CCC Boys and the Barefoot Ranger
Come listen and learn the epic stories of the Civilian Conservation Corps and North Georgia’s Barefoot Ranger Arthur Woody, both monumental in the creation of Brasstown Bald as we know it today!
From 1933 to 1942, the public work relief program Civilian Conservation Corps, hired over 3 million young men out of the depression to help with the conservation and development of America’s natural resources. Arthur Woody, the first forest ranger of the Chattahoochee National Forest, led a camp of men in building a fire tower on the top of Brasstown Bald along with many other significant projects in the area.
