Centennial Sounds: Tray Wellington Band with Cherokee Language Repertory Choir
The John C. Campbell Folk School is thrilled to present Centennial Sounds, a special five-concert series celebrating the rich musical traditions of Appalachia while amplifying diverse voices shaping its future. Funded in part with a grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, the series is part of the Folk School’s yearlong 100th anniversary celebrations and will take place on select Monday evenings from May through September 2026 in the school’s historic Festival Barn.
May 18: Tray Wellington Band blends Appalachian roots with jazz, funk, and global influences. Joining them, the Cherokee Language Repertory Choir preserves Cherokee language through shaped-note singing, reimagining the Christian Harmony tradition and sustaining cultural heritage in Western North Carolina.
