Enchanted Music on the Hiawassee Square

The Dixie Tornados are a group of musicians from North GA, the Canton and Jasper area. All of the members have played in bands with and around with each other thru the past 40 years or so but it was roughly in 2012 when Greg Henderson, David Shipman, Jerry Wolfgang Wofford and Eddie Gray, decided to get together and play some of the songs no one were playing anymore, the songs that they all grew up playing. They have never rehearsed a single time even though they sound like they could play the strip on Broadway Street in Nashville! From time-to-time different players depending on availability or other engagements, will fill in, but the core to this band is how they stay true to the songs, 70's-80's country dance music and outlaw country. Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, George Strait, Hank Sr and Jr. are all played by this band. On special nights, Tim Hamilton, joins them on pedal steel when he is not travelling with a major country artist. The band is Greg Henderson on guitar and lead vocals, Jerry Wolfgang Wofford on Bass and Vocals, David Shipman on Lead Guitar and Ricky Silvers on Drums.  If you love country rock music from not so long ago ...you will love the Dixie Tornados ! Every show is different, and they love it when the crowd sings along!!!  The Dixie Tornados love playing for the folks in Hiawassee and have played there several times thru the years!

 This will be a fun evening and a tribute to classic Country songs. Bring your lawn chair, your family and friends and the family pet too (on a leash, please, and with clean up equipment.) The VFW Auxiliary will provide grilled hot dogs and chicken breast sandwiches with all the fixings as well as chips and sodas. All these are for sale at very reasonable prices. In the event of Rain, we will be performing in the Civic Center (Just behind the Library and to the Left of the Courthouse)
