Learn the Basics of Charcoal Drawing
Course Instructor - Alan Corbett
This class will be an opportunity to understand the basic techniques to create a portrait, still life or landscape. The class will offer detail instruction with how to create the proper composition using values and negative shapes.
Alan Corbett, studied illustration and traditional art at Columbus State University and Kennesaw State University. Alan worked as a computer graphic designer and illustrator in Columbus, GA and Atlanta, GA. Influenced by NC Wyeth, Howard Pyle, C.M. Russell and Norman Rockwell, which all provided an indelible and impressionable visual education. Drawn to the remarkable illustrations by Howard Reiney at Communicorp, a Division of AFLAC, Alan was then hooked on drawing and painting as a career. Alan's work has appeared and been published worldwide. Former clients include: Cox Enterprises, MacCallan Scotch, Aflac, Manheim, Clemson University, and Atlanta Journal Constitution. Alan now lives in Sky Valley, GA as a Portrait Painter with the emphasis in Oils and Charcoals. Alan teaches at venues in North Georgia and is a member of the Portrait Society of America since 2019.
