ICL: Paint Fall Trivets with Alcohol Inks - October 26, 2024
Course Instructor - Joyce Clair
No drawing or painting experience required to paint two 6x6 ceramic trivets. You will use stencils for leaf and deer designs.
Alcohol inks are permanent inks that will be fixed with finishing sprays. The finished trivets are heat and fade resistant. The trivets may be used on your dining table or displayed in a small easel. They make nice gifts as well! All supplies included to complete the project. Bring an apron or old shirt to protect clothing. Supply fee of $20 will be due to artist at class. Note: Not recommended for persons with sensitive respiratory systems.
Joyce Clair has a passion for painting with transparent watercolors. Most of her paintings are completed outdoors or “en plein air” in the beautiful north Georgia mountains. She initiated the “Plein Air Painters of Hiawassee Georgia”, a group of local painters who paint together regularly. Join our group on face book if interested in participating.
Her representational impressionist style is influenced by watercolor master, Ed Whitney (1891-1987). Joyce studied watercolor painting for two years under Dr. Morris Green of the Maryland Institute of Art. Dr. Green was a former student of watercolor master, Ed Whitney. She also attended watercolor workshops with Zoltan Szabo, Tom Lynch, Frank Webb, and Skip Lawrence, many of whom studied under Ed Whitney as well. Joyce also took drawing and photography classes at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.
Joyce grew up in Pennsylvania and lived in Maryland and Texas before moving to Georgia. Since retiring from her Nurse Practitioner career, Joyce devotes most of her time to painting and teaching watercolor, alcohol inks, and drawing. She teaches private and group classes at Artworks in Hiawassee, GA, Murphy Art Center in NC, Blue Ridge Mountains Art Center in Blue Ridge, GA, Gilmer Arts in Ellijay, GA, and ICL at Young Harris College, Young Harris, GA .
