Service Technician II


Purpose & Description 
The Service Technician II is a member of the lake crew who is responsible for working with a small, 2–3-person team to install or repair boat docks and/or accessories. The installs or repairs could include repairing or installing decking, steel and aluminum frames, metal roofing, boat lifts, or floats as well as moving docks in or out of the water. The work is accomplished by using a modified pontoon boat to travel across lakes, rivers, etc. to access the boat dock. Quality dock service is completed while growing in skill and professionalism, in a positive team environment. The Service Technician II is a moderately skilled position.  Direct report is your assigned Journeyman Boat Captain.  The next level of management is your assigned Service Project Coordinator (SPC). 
 
Skills & knowledge 
  • Basic construction experience. 
  • Moderately skilled with use of hand or power tools, techniques that is appropriate to the area of specialization. 
  • Task oriented, however, duties and tasks are varied and moderately complex. 
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and prioritization skills. 
  • Basic boat and water navigation. 
  • Strong time management. 
  • Basic mathematical calculations. 
  • Interpret work orders. 
Basic knowledge in at least 2 of the Service areas below (See Service Area Skill Summary):   
  •     Welding and Fabrication  
  •     Decking and Carpentry
  •     Boat Lift Installation  
  •    Dock Moving and Transport 

Tasks & Activities 
  • Demonstrate competency in specific materials, methods, tools, equipment, and techniques required to complete required tasks. 
  • Complete required tasks in a safe and responsible manner. 
  • Work with limited supervision. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned truck, trailer, boat, equipment, jobsite, and shop/yard area. 
  • Ability to properly hook and unhook trailer to trucks and operate a jack and winch. 
  • Ability to properly adjust equipment without supervision. 
  • Always utilize PPE and safety equipment. Follow all safety rules. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Physical Requirements/Environment & work setting 
  • Requires standing, sitting, bending, and repetitive motion. 
  • Requires hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. 
  • Requires lifting and moving a minimum of 35 pounds. 
  • Requires contact and/or face-to-face discussions. 
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. 
  • Exposure to chemicals, hazardous equipment, minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings. 
  • Requires working indoors and outdoors in an uncontrolled environment. 
  • Requires traveling by water on a boat. 
  • Requires good balance while working on a boat dock while it is moving and/or rocking. 
 
Education & Experience 
  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience. 
  • Requires at least 1 (one) year experience of on-the-job training or experience related to the job.
