A Longer Day Means More Play

Welcome, Springtime! Here in Towns County, you can join us for a round of golf, slip on your boots for live music concerts, bring home native plants from the nursery, and simply enjoy all the best of mountain culture for which Hiawassee and Young Harris are renowned.

GOLF WITH A VIEW
Two amazing golf courses – one with mountain views and the other with sun-sparkled waters – give serious and casual golfers all the reasons to keep coming back. Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa Golf Course offers 18 holes of championship Blue Ridge Mountain golf for all levels of play. Guests have full practice options and a well-equipped Pro Shop. Golf lessons and clinics are also available through the golf resort’s Director of Golf and PGA Professional, Steve Phelps. Both Golf Digest and Leading Golf Courses of America rank Brasstown Valley Golf Course as one of the top golf courses in Georgia.
On the tranquil shores of Lake Chatuge is Chatuge Shores Golf Course. It’s a semi-private facility that measures nearly 6,500 yards from the back tees. Chatuge Shores is rated 4 of 5 stars by Golf Advisor and Golf Link and 3 stars by Golf Digest.

FISH THE DAY AWAY
Anglers find paradise in Towns County. You can get hooked on fishing at Lake Chatuge and our rivers and streams coursing through the rugged North Georgia mountains.
Lake Chatuge is a bass haven, with largemouth, spotted, striped, and hybrid fish. Fishermen also enjoy catching catfish, bream, and crappie.
Boat rentals are available from several Towns County marinas. Fishing guides can also be hired to take you to the best spots. Fly fishermen are attracted to the rainbow trout and brown trout in the
Hiawassee River, upstream of Lake Chatuge, and many other area streams.

RHODODENDRON FESTIVAL
Along the shores of Lake Chatuge and within the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is Hamilton Gardens. More than 40 acres of secluded woodlands includes 1- and 2-mile, easy trail loops. Welcome to a botanical paradise with dogwoods, native azaleas, rare forest perennials, trillium, and ferns. Hamilton Gardens has the largest collection of rhododendron and native azalea in the Southeast.
During peak bloom time, Hamilton Gardens celebrates its beautiful native flowers with a Rhododendron Festival. Each weekend of the festival (April 14-16, April 21-23, April 28-30, May 5-7, and May 12-14) you can admire and purchase works by craft artisans, enjoy live music, food and drinks, a plant sale, daily workshops, and more. Admission is $5 per person.
